Always at least 15 minutes late to see you, on occasions up to an hour. Impossible to get an appointment in the morning, often only the nurse practitioner left and even then there is no choice of times. As appointments are only given for that day (unless it's a check up or you can wait a month) if the doctor is so late that you have to leave because of work or other commitments then you will have to wait another number of weeks before you're seen again, or fight to get through at 8 in the morning for an on-the-day-appointment. I see this as a serious lack of care and there is no reason for doctors to run so late. Today I was the first appointment of the day and the doctor was 1/2 an hour late, which is unacceptable, they shouldn't ask me to be there for nine if I won't be seen til nearer 9:35!

I've never been to Beech House and not had to wait less than 15 minutes. It is nearly impossible to get a doctors appointment and it is horrifying how quickly the surgery seems to fill all appointments for the day.

We are writing to you to make you aware of our concerns about the levels of care being provided by Beech House Surgery to Anne Hanley [DOB 14/5/1942]. On a number of occasions, following routine blood tests, Anne was informed that her Kidney Function readings were reducing, the latest being down to 41%. However no explanations were given or actions proposed. It was only when this was questioned in a discussion with a GP that an immediate referral to a Renal Consultant was made and a series of actions undertaken. This could [should?] have been done at least two years earlier. Following the Consultant appointment, a letter was received from Beech House Surgery requesting that an appointment be made to see a GP. At 6pm on the night before the appointment, a phone call was received cancelling the appointment. The next earliest appointment offered was almost four weeks away. However at our insistence, an earlier appointment [two weeks] was made available with a different GP to the one who instigated the earlier referral. Since then, the same thing has happened again with appointments being cancelled at very short notice. When we queried this with Reception, we were told to call first thing in the morning and make an on the day appointment. However, when we have done this previously, the GP informed us that these appointments were for emergencies only and in the time available it was not possible to discuss and explain in the way we were requesting, and that a routine appointment should be made!

We see Dr Arif who is ALWAYS friendly, approachable and helpful. As for the surgery:- The toilet needs checking more often as it often smells. It is often difficult to get a routine or follow up appointment as you only book 1 month in advance and these are usually all taken.

I had to wait 25 days for a non urgent appointment. I rarely use the surgery but over the last few years three weeks has been the usual amount of time I can book in advance. There is no list of GP's in sight and you are not offered a choice. As I have developed a chronic condition in the last 2 years I would like to form a relationship with one person to help me cope otherwise I feel like I'm just a number at a checkout. In those 2 years I have only been to the surgery 4 or 5 times so its not as if I'm pestering the service. I appreciate the receptionists have a hard job but they always appear unaccommodating with a "this is what we've got, take it or leave it" attitude. It certainly is a good tactic for keeping folk away but I tend to procrastinate before contacting them as I know to get an appointment will be hard and I'll be made to feel a nuisance.
